Murtaugh List April 2, 2009

I was watching How I Met Your Mother yesterday, and as usual, they have come up with another interesting idea — The Murtaugh List.
The Murtaugh List is based on a character in the Lethal Weapon series, Sgt. Roger Murtaugh (played by Danny Glover), who has this iconic line in the movie — “I’m too old for this shit”. So, in a nutshell, the list is about things that you are too old for.
It got me thinking… what sort of things are in MY Murtaugh list? Hmm. Let me see…
1. Pull an all nighter. — I need 5 hours of sleep (no more, no less) to function properly the next day.
2. Drink gin, and not vomit. — Well, technically, I was never able to drink gin without vomitting, so I guess this doesn’t really count.
3. Listen to emo. — I just don’t get it. Perhaps, I AM old.
4. Eat nothing but “college food” for a whole day. — Stuff like instant noodles, chips, cookies, etc. I need rice. I need bread. I need pasta.
5. Play video games nonstop all day and all night. — I used to do this all the time. I remember getting my PS2 in mid-December a couple of years ago, and it was my sole objective in life to finish Metal Gear Solid 2 before Christmas. And I did it.
Now, I could barely finish a level in Resident Evil, without taking a break to eat or go to the bathroom.
6. Do complex computations in my head. — Again, another thing that I used to do all the time. Yeah, I’m a geek. Now, I’m just too dependent on the calculator.
7. Drink more than a cup of coffee a day. — This one is really sad. Unfortunately, even drinking 1 cup of coffee is bad for me. But hell, sometimes, I give in anyway.
I’ll update this post each time I think of other things, but in the meantime, let me ask… what’s on YOUR Murtaugh List?
True Blood January 21, 2009

No, not that. Although I did really donate blood last January 1st.
Since vampires are “in”, our friends Dionne and Joven introduced us to another set of vampires in True Blood. Benj and I started watching the pilot but did not get to finish it. D & J told us that we just have to get past the first episode to really get hooked. I think I’ll give it another shot while waiting for Prison Break and Heroes to resume.
And, I finally finished reading Twilight. Time to borrow New Moon.

My Benjie has been sick since last Wednesday. Down with terrible cough, he has been out of office and in his bed since last Thursday.
With nothing better to do, we watched Forest Gump, Pushing Daisies, Private Practice, and catched up on the CSI eps. I hope he gets well already…

Updates, updates, updates…
Was at a week long training of Oracle Tutor 11i’s Author and Publisher. I hope the training and software will be all worth the trouble. Anyway, enough about the work stuffs. Despite being busy at work, Benj and I still managed to squeeze in our movie fix.

National Treasure: Book of Secrets. Watched this film after Issie’s baptism at Trinoma. We originally planned to watch a movie with Cors but she already saw the film. Cors ended up going shopping for her Taiwan trip instead. So, the film, it was nice. I actually enjoyed it.
Dinner at Five Cows followed after.
27 Dresses. Nice, funny. But nothing to rave about.

Good Luck Chuck. Funnier and better. Cute penguins. But I like dolphins and orcas better.

Juno. Watched it a home. I just got curious after I saw an episode of Tyra.

Jumper. It was just kewl at first. Then it gained momentum. Then, blah. By the way, thanks to Rose, Teret and Rache for the movie tickets!

Spotted, Beej watching Gossip Girl.
First read about this in Chuvaness. I just tried it because there are no more TV series because of the strike. I was running low on shows to download and I have to maximize my broadband subscription. Hehe. After the Pilot. I got hooked! Now, its one episode a night and I’m on episode 7.
You know you love me… Xoxo.

Shown in the photo: Lorwyn Fatpack, Starbucks Php20-Frappuccino, and Starbucks Christmas cup.
The parties were less this year… Not because we have less friends but because our friends were either out of the country na or have a full schedules. Nevertheless, Benj and I had fun.
Dec 14 – Mommy’s birthday
We bought her KK Holiday Doughnuts.
Dec 16 – Erly and Vincent’s wedding
Story on a separate post.
Dec 22 – Christmas with SML+ @ the Larins

We were home based this year because of an additional member – Issie.
She is just 1 month old and is not yet allowed to go to Red Box or Music Match. Hehe. So, we had KFC and adobo español for lunch and cakes and leche flans for dessert. We played Guesstures and catched up with the stories. Hopefully we can meet up again before Richie goes back to the States.
Dec 24 – Last minute shopping
In lieu of the traditional Christmas party @ Precy’s, we had a simple lunch at KFC. After which, we rushed to RP for the last few gifts on our list. Then, I surprised Benj with a Lorwyn FP. Thanks, Jovs! We opened it at Starbucks Intramuros, played 1 loooong game, then went to Music Match in Malate for our own Christmas party.
Dec 25 – Christmas day
…was spent in Cavite after hearing mass at Pink Sisters in Tagaytay. We also watched Michael Buble’s *dreamy look* concert in DVD.
Dec 26 – It rained.
Buti na lang it was after Christmas na. Just imagine how sad the kids will be if they won’t be able to go to their ninongs and ninangs for their presents…
Dec 27 – All-day TV
Went to Benj house to watch TV all day. What can I say? We love to watch tv! Hehe. Nanny Diaries, HIMYM, Grey’s Anatomy, America’s Next Top Model, and The Ellen DeGeneres Show.
Dec 28 – Shopping in Makati
It took me all 2 hours to buy something for Lalaine’s wedding. Hehe. Thank you Benj for patiently waiting and following me around.
Then we had Funnel Cake at food choices and collected tickets from Time Zone’s version of Deal or No Deal.
Jan 1 – New Year’s Day
We went around Metro Manila for lunch, merienda and dinner. Lunch was with the Cifras in Pasay. Merienda was with the Lees in La Loma. And dinner was with the Morales-Larins in Abad Santos. Ayos!
Happy New Year everyone! Cheers!
